Volume 2, Side Story 9: Harem Route Disappears

"This route won't continue anymore. Try another one."

Jimichi Ikuto, with two girls on either of his sides, slowly walked and said these words to the grim-faced Tendou Susumu.

Even though the two beautiful girls had their arms linked up with him, Jimichi kept his expressionless face and continued his words in an indifferent manner.

"You know what I'm talking about, don't you? It's impossible, useless, and reckless to go any further. You should stuff it up and continue on the remaining path."

The way he talked was as if he was warning someone seemed incomprehensible if a third-party was to listen to him.

In fact, the two people clinging on to him, Shigure Airi and Mutsuki Yukinaga, were staring at him with puzzled expressions.

As for the person in question? He didn't seem confused, but he didn't seem to understand, either.

Tendou's expression was simply filled with disgust and anger.

"Shut up...just shut up! I don't know what you're talking about, but I don't need you telling me what to do!"

With that outburst from Tendou, Jimichi's slow but moving steps stopped. With that, the two girls also followed.

The loud volume of his voice, together with a vicious look on his face, were enough to intimidate the girls.

Shigure Airi timidly hid her face behind Jimichi's arm.

On the other side, Yukinaga Mutsuki, perhaps trying to shield Jimichi, advanced slightly ahead of him.

"T-Tendou-senpai? You're scary..."

"What is up with you all of a sudden..."

Shigure Airi let out a trembling voice, and Yukinaga Mutsuki looked surprised.

As if to protect them, Jimichi stepped forward again.

"The girls are getting scared, so can you please stop?"

Here, for the first time, color returned to Jimichi's face.

His look turned a bit stern, and one could tell by just by taking a look on his face.

He was feeling uncomfortable. His cheeks relaxed slightly as he wondered if phrasing and gestures comforted the girls.

But the situation didn't seem enjoyable at all for Tendou.

"Your girls? You're quick, aren't you."

"That's not what I meant."

"Then why don't you leave? Let me guess...trying to show off?"

"I don't need you to tell me that."

The two women listening in on the conversation between Jimichi and Tendou felt the unusual atmosphere, and tightened their grips on his arm.

The situation was too heated, as if it ready to burst. But in the first, they didn't know why Tendou was angry, nor why Jimichi was able to respond to him without any problems.

Unable to insert themselves, the girls could only stare anxiously at Jimichi.

"Sorry, you two. Tendou seemed like he has something for me, so can you head over to the shoe lockers first?"

"...I understand."

"Y-yes..."

Perhaps concerned about them, Jimichi took his arm away and urged for them to go first.

They agreed and went back the way they came. It was a bit of a detour, but it was a sign that they didn't want to pass by Tendou right now.

At the same time the two of them moved their feet while looking back, still worrying about Jimichi.

Tendou Susumu's feet also began to move. It was as if he was trying to chase the two departing girls.

"Wait."

It was the words of Jimichi Ikuto and his actions that stopped Tendou Susumu in his tracks.

In response, Tendou yelled at Jimichi, who stood in his way.

"How far are you going to get in my way?!"

"What are you trying to do? Whatever it is, it won't make a difference."

"...Back off, and get out of the way."

"Haven't I already said it multiple times?"

Jimichi took a breath, looked Tendou in the eye, and spoke slowly.

His uncomfortable expression was gone, and Jimichi now looked calm.

"I didn't get in your way. It's all the result of your choices.”

"How could my choices have led to this!"

No one knew what the consequences of their choices were.

But you could predict. It was easy to know the impact of a choice without even taking the future, nor the other party, into account.

It was foolish to only ignore the process that led to this point and only look at the results.

There was no good ending for those who couldn't reflect on their own choices.

"Hey, Tendou. Doesn't matter what you think, this route is already closed."

"You're not making sense again..."

"But you still have one route left.

"Like I said, you're not making any sense!"

Jimichi didn't seem intimidated by Tendou's angry shouts, and stepped aside.

The road he was blocking was opened. Seeing this, Tendou took a step forward.

However, he stopped again the moment he saw the look on Jimichi's face.

The corners of Jimichi's mouth rose slightly. When he saw this, his instincts were sounding alarm bells.

"If you really want to down this road, go ahead."

"..."

"Let me tell you, if you try to force yourself on these girls, I won't let you get away with it."

"...What's up with you, still pretending like their boyfriend."

"If you want to lose the remaining route, have it your way."

"Lose...?!"

With those words, Tendou's feet completely halted.

Whatever he thought of, Tendou just glared at Jimichi and didn't move.

"You, are you going to do something again?!"

"I won't do anything. Unless you make a mistake."

Jimichi moved forward.

As he did, he passed by Tendou. His direction was opposite from where Yukinaga and Shigure headed.

It was if wanted to end the conversation and head towards the shoe lockers where the girls were waiting for him.

It seemed like it would end at just that, but after a short walk, Jimichi stopped and turned around.

"Oh, I forgot. I'll tell you this."

"What!"

"Carefully choose. If you lose sight of the remaining path, you will fall."

"That's enough already..."

"I'm just trying to be nice... Well, it's fine. This is your last warning, okay? Next time ―― it won't end with just this."

And so, they parted ways.

Tendou glared at the end of the corridor Jimichi left off, but he didn't seem to go after Yukinaga-senpai and the others.

Letting out his frustration, he thought about the word 'lose' that Jimichi mentioned again.

Jimichi on the other hand, was frantically operating his smartphone with an impatient look on his face.

Ikuto: Bad, it's really bad! Help me!

Souji: Calm down. Can you come tomorrow?

Ikuto: I'll go. You reply too fast, do your job.

Souji: It's break time~. Then, see you tomorrow~.

The two people were involved yet again. But it was different than last time.

People left heaven, and gathered on earth.

But what lied ahead was uncertain. Depending on the choices made, there were still ways to go.

That's two-thirds. Considering the rest, I would say two-fifths.

Wow~, that was tough.

Still, I wonder how the developments changed this much.

It's a development I don't like, even if I want to lose.

I mean, I never knew he had this side to him.

Because I knew him poorly, I'm confused by the change.

Love changes people after all, don't it.

Haa...even then, it was still tough.

Finally, the best route had been erased.

But more, just a little more.

Important announcement: I'll be uploading on a schedule now because I have to balance college with translating. Not to mention chapters have been getting longer, too. There will be 4 chapters a week, uploaded on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Sorry for this.
